【Attraction Introduction】

◆ "Alpine Route" - Kurobe-Tateyama

The Kurobe-Tateyama Alpine Route is one of the world's most famous mountain climbing routes. The entire route traverses the Northern Alps, spanning nearly 2,000 meters in elevation difference, allowing visitors to experience vastly different natural landscapes along the way. Tateyama, along with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, is one of Japan's three sacred mountains. Every year, after the mountain opens to visitors, tourists from all over the world come to witness its breathtaking scenery. Whether it's the world-famous Snow Corridor or the stunning alpine views at places like Bijodaira and Murodo, this is a must-visit destination in one's lifetime! Additionally, Japan's tallest dam, the Kurobe Dam, is a man-made wonder that never fails to leave visitors in awe when seen in person!

◆ Murodo

At an altitude of 2,450 meters, "Murodo Station" is the highest-altitude station in Japan. Nearby, "Mikurigaike Pond" is regarded as the most beautiful volcanic lake in the Northern Alps. Until June, the lake remains frozen and is often covered in snow. When the ice melts, the lake displays an incredibly pure blue color, creating a mesmerizing view. Walking along the nearby trails, visitors can admire rare alpine flowers, lush pine trees, and, if lucky, catch a glimpse of the "Rock Ptarmigan," a special natural monument of Japan!

◆ Kurobe Dam

Located in the upper reaches of the Kurobe River in eastern Toyama Prefecture, the Kurobe Dam stands at a height of 186 meters, making it Japan’s largest dam! With a water storage capacity of over 200 million cubic meters, the dam can discharge over 10 tons of water per second, creating an awe-inspiring sight! Don't miss the chance to witness this remarkable man-made structure, which took seven years and over 10 million workers to complete, making it one of the most iconic landmarks along the Alpine Route.

◆ "Alpine Route" Itinerary:

Tateyama Station → [Cable Car ~7 mins] → Bijodaira → [Highland Bus ~50 mins] → Murodo → [Tunnel Electric Bus ~10 mins] → Daikanbo → [Cable Car ~7 mins] → Kurobedaira → [Cable Car ~5 mins] → Kurobe Lake → [Walk ~15 mins] → Kurobe Dam → [Kansai Electric Power Tunnel Electric Bus ~16 mins] → Ogizawa Station

Kawaguchi Lake

Located at the foot of Mount Fuji, the area around Lake Kawaguchi offers different seasonal views of the iconic mountain. In spring, cherry blossoms and various flowers bloom in full splendor, creating a breathtaking contrast with the distant Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. This is an essential stop for any Mount Fuji sightseeing tour!

【April 16 - April 29 Departures】

Visit Lake Kawaguchi in spring to admire the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms. Depending on the blooming conditions, we will take you to the most scenic spots! (Choose two of the following destinations to visit):

  • Oshino Hakkai
  • Lake Kawaguchi Lakeside
  • Oishi Park
  • Other Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Yamanashi Prefecture

【From April 30 Departures】

Visit Oishi Park to admire the stunning reflection of Mount Fuji on Lake Kawaguchi!

【April 16 - April 29 Departures】 - Matsumoto Castle

Matsumoto Castle is one of only 12 surviving original castle towers in Japan. As a hirajiro (flatland castle), it is set against the magnificent Northern Alps, creating a stunning backdrop. The five-story black-and-white tower features a striking color contrast, blending fortress-like strength with the elegant "Moon Viewing Tower". Additionally, the castle’s interior includes hidden floors not visible from the outside, showcasing its ingenious architectural techniques. The tall pillar-supported structure further highlights Matsumoto Castle's excellence in historical architecture.

【From April 30 Departures】 - Kamikochi "The Land of the Gods"

Located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Kamikochi is a breathtaking destination surrounded by Mount Yake, the Hotaka Mountain Range, and the Azusa River. Though nestled deep in the mountains, its unique landscape has made it a beloved summer retreat for Japanese travelers. The climate is pleasant, and the stunning alpine scenery along the way is simply unforgettable.

  • For beginner hikers: Recommended route: Taisho Pond → Kappa Bridge
  • For experienced trekkers: Recommended route: Kappa Bridge → Myojin Bridge
    • At Myojin Pond, visitors can witness a breathtaking lake view that feels almost otherworldly.

※ Please assess your own ability and plan your return time accordingly to avoid delays or injuries.

◆ Taisho Pond

Formed naturally in 1915 when Mount Yake erupted and blocked part of the Azusa River, Taisho Pond dramatically altered the local landscape. From its shores, visitors can admire the stunning reflection of the Hotaka Mountain Range on the water's surface, creating a dreamlike scene.

◆ Kappa Bridge

The most iconic landmark of Kamikochi, Kappa Bridge is built using local wood from the Azusa Riverbanks. Depending on the weather, the views from the bridge change beautifully throughout the day. Renowned writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa featured Kappa Bridge and Taisho Pond in his famous novel "Kappa", further elevating the bridge’s legendary status as Kamikochi’s most famous attraction.
