<Event Period: August 2, 2025 - August 7, 2025>
The "Aomori Nebuta Matsuri" was registered as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset in 1980. It takes place from August 2 to August 7 every year and attracts over 3 million visitors from both Japan and abroad. The festival features over 20 large Nebuta floats made with Kabuki, historical, or mythical themes. The floats, which are accompanied by warriors or dancers, parade in sync with the sounds of music and chants like "rasseraa," creating a spectacular performance of the legend of "Sakamoto Tamuramaro."
★- - - - - ★【Akita Kanto Matsuri (Seat Viewing)】★- - - - - ★
<Event Period: August 3, 2025 - August 6, 2025>
Young people wearing white socks perform an impressive display of balancing tall, bright Kanto lanterns (up to 13 meters tall and weighing around 60 kg) on their shoulders, waists, or foreheads. The main avenue is lit up like a river of light, and the lanterns, shaped like rice bales, appear to be golden rice ears swaying in the night sky.
★- - - - - ★【Yamagata Hanagasa Matsuri (Free Viewing)】★- - - - - ★
<Event Period: August 5, 2025 - August 7, 2025>
The festival is marked by powerful chants and the sound of drums. During the event, over 10,000 dancers dressed in colorful costumes, holding decorative flower hats, perform in front of elaborately decorated floats on the main streets of Yamagata City.
★- - - - - ★【Sendai Tanabata Matsuri (Free Viewing)】★- - - - - ★
<Event Period: August 6, 2025 - August 8, 2025>
The area is decorated with handmade Tanabata decorations, some of which are over 10 meters tall. The cost of decorating each bamboo pole ranges from hundreds of thousands to millions of yen, making it a fierce competition to display the most luxurious and extravagant decorations.
