Located at an altitude of 1,500 meters in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Kamikōchi is one of Japan's top mountain scenic destinations.
It has been officially designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and Special Natural Monument by the Japanese government.
Each year, it attracts over 1.2 million visitors and mountain climbers seeking breathtaking views.
◆ Shin-Hotaka Ropeway
Japan’s only double-decker ropeway, taking you to Nishihotakaguchi Station at an altitude of 2,156 meters.
Adjacent to the station is “Mori-no-Deck (Forest Terrace),” part of the newly built Yari-no-Kairō (Yari Corridor).
Here, you can fully engage your senses while enjoying spectacular views of the Northern Japan Alps’ untouched nature from observation decks such as the Forest Roof.
◆ Norikura Skyline
Closed since September 2022, the Norikura Skyline finally reopened in August 2024 after two years of restoration.
Travel along Japan’s highest-altitude toll road, closed to private vehicles to protect the natural environment, as you journey to Tatamidaira on Mount Norikura at 2,704 meters.
Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding alpine scenery as you ascend above the clouds.

The tour conductor on board speaks only Japanese but will carry a tablet with translation functions. In case of emergency, you may seek assistance from the conductor.

※ The tour conductor/staff will hold a signboard or flag marked with “Hankyu Travel / Trapics.” Please check the name of your route carefully, and show your name to the staff when checking in. Make sure to gather with your companions before checking in. If there are any changes to your group on the day of departure, be sure to inform the staff.
※ There is no tour guide on this itinerary—only a tour conductor will accompany the group. (The conductor is responsible only for schedule and time management.) Due to Japanese law, the conductor is not allowed to stand and speak while the vehicle is in motion. The conductor will not provide sightseeing commentary.

[About Altitude Sickness]
● As altitude increases, the oxygen level in the air decreases.
If your body cannot adapt to the environment, altitude sickness symptoms may occur.
Altitude sickness is generally known to occur above 2,500 meters. The Dake-daira area visited on this tour is located at an elevation of 2,702 meters, so altitude sickness may occur.
Please ensure you are well-rested and in good health before participating.
If you have a history of altitude sickness, please consult your family doctor before deciding to join the tour.
