Experience a magical night watching floating lanterns and fireworks along the Kuzuryu River!
Enjoy the dreamy atmosphere of the 38th Annual Eiheiji Lantern Floating Ceremony from reserved seating!

Seats are located very close to the main temple of Soto Zen Buddhism, Eiheiji Temple.
This is Japan’s largest lantern-floating event and was registered in 2014 as a "Japan Historical Cultural Nightscape Heritage" (Note 1).
The highlight of the event is the fireworks show, illuminating the entire venue with stunning lights.

• Event Date: Saturday, August 23, 2025

• Lantern Floating Time: 19:00 – 20:40

• Fireworks Display (Planned): 20:40 – 21:00

● Optional: Floating lanterns for dedication can be purchased on-site (payment at the venue).

• Memorial Lantern: ¥2,000 each
  For praying for the deceased (ancestors). (Only one name per lantern.)
  Please prepare the posthumous Buddhist name (戒名) in advance and write it on the lantern before release.

• Wish Lantern: ¥1,500 each
  Write your wishes and release them into the river.

The setting of Zeami's Noh play Hanagatami.
Tour the corridor of green moss and early autumn leaves in the park with a Japanese-speaking guide.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

• Meet at JR Nagoya Station West Exit (Taikodori Entrance Plaza)
  (Meeting at 11:15 / Departure at 11:30)

• Lunch at Tsurubun (Echizen Kitamae Sushi – served later than usual): Approx. 45 min

• Visit Eiheiji Temple (founded by Zen master Dogen, a sacred Zen site): Approx. 60 min

• Enjoy Eiheiji River Park (viewing of lantern floating & fireworks from reserved seating): Approx. 4 hr 30 min

• Check-in at hotel in Echizen City (arrival around 22:00)

Day 2

• Depart hotel at 09:30

• Visit Former Samurai Residence Tamura Family Home (decorated with ~2,000 colorful pinwheels): Approx. 40 min

• Lunch at Wafu Restaurant Takiya (Wakasa Beef Sukiyaki Set): Approx. 50 min

• Tour Hanagatami Park (setting of Zeami’s Noh play, guided walk through seasonal foliage and moss paths): Approx. 40 min

• Visit Echizen Soba Village (try Fukui’s famous oroshi soba noodles and a soda float dessert using local soda): Approx. 40 min

• Return to JR Nagoya Station West Exit (arrival around 17:30–18:30)

Important Notes

• This is a local bus tour in Japan and will be conducted together with Japanese participants. Important information will be provided in both Chinese and English in written form.

• The tour conductor on the bus speaks only Japanese, but they will carry a tablet device with translation capabilities. In case of emergency, you may ask the conductor for assistance.

Regarding Tours Not Yet Confirmed to Depart

• If the tour is canceled due to insufficient participants, notification will be sent via email four days before the departure date.

• Once your participation is confirmed, the final itinerary (including meeting point, meeting time, tour details, and accommodation) will be sent via email 5–7 days before the departure date.

• On the day of departure, the staff holding a sign or flag labeled “Hankyu Travel / Trapics” will assist you. Please confirm the tour name carefully and show your name to check in. Make sure all companions are gathered before approaching the staff. If there are any changes to your group members on the day, be sure to inform the staff.

• This tour does not include a guide. Only a tour conductor will accompany the group (they are responsible for itinerary and time management only). According to Japanese law, the conductor cannot stand and give explanations while the vehicle is in motion. They are not responsible for guiding at sightseeing spots.

• Since this is a group tour, seating arrangements on the bus may separate companions depending on seat layout and reservation conditions. Seat preferences cannot be accommodated for trains, buses, or ships. Thank you for your understanding.

• Children under 12 years old are not allowed to join this tour.

• The itinerary confirmation and meeting details will be provided in English only. Printed itineraries are not provided on the day of the tour. Please screenshot the itinerary from the official website or print it yourself in advance if needed.

• If the itinerary on the member page appears in Japanese, please refer to the English itinerary on the tour webpage.

• Meal contents may change depending on the restaurant’s stock.

• In case of rain in the forecast, please bring your own rain gear. Umbrellas cannot be used in the seating area; please bring a simple rain poncho.

• Entry stamps (Goshuin) at temples are not included in the tour fee. If desired, please obtain them on your own.

• The order of activities may change depending on circumstances on the day. Thank you for your understanding.

• If the lantern floating event is canceled due to severe weather, an alternative visit to the main hall for a Buddhist memorial service will be arranged. No refund will be issued for the spectator seat fee.

Confirmation Details

• This product requires double confirmation. After booking, you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. Please check your inbox regularly.

• If the minimum number of participants is not met, a cancellation email will be sent four days before the departure date.

How to Use

• Please present either a printed voucher or an electronic voucher on your mobile device on the day of the activity.

• Meeting details: Please arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes in advance.
