Shiga 【Hachimanbori】
(Includes free time for lunch, independent activities)
*If the Miho Museum is closed, the itinerary will be changed to Hachimanbori.
Hachimanbori is a man-made canal flowing through the heart of Omihachiman, connecting the town to Lake Biwa (Japan’s largest lake).
During the Edo period, Omi merchants traveled nationwide from here, and traditional merchant houses still line the streets.
The white-walled warehouses and boats gliding through the canal create a timeless scene, often used as a filming location for period dramas like Rurouni Kenshin (live-action), Mito Kōmon, and Hissatsu Shigotonin.

Shiga 【Kyū Chikurin-in】
A nationally designated scenic garden offering breathtaking views in every season, once a retreat for monks from Mount Hiei.
Recommended by Japanese photographers, the garden’s layout mirrors that of Rurōkaku-in, featuring mirror-like reflections. The moss-covered grounds are stunning year-round.
(Admission not included: ¥330; Matcha tea and wagashi set in the garden: ¥400)

Shiga 【Lake Biwa】
Located near Kyoto, Lake Biwa is Japan’s largest freshwater lake, a symbol of the nation, and a designated national park. Protected under special water quality laws, it’s listed as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Like Mount Fuji, it’s cherished as a symbol of Japan and called the "Lake of Life."

【Shirahige Shrine】
Built around 1,900 years ago, Shirahige Shrine is the oldest in Omi. Its iconic torii gate stands in Lake Biwa, with fishing boats passing beneath it—a picturesque scene beloved by photographers.
The floating torii remains steadfast through changing skies, offering ever-shifting views from dawn to dusk.
