◆ Highlight 1:
Hoheikyo Dam is located in the southern part of Sapporo. From June 1 to October 31 every year, visitors can witness the impressive water release from the dam. To protect the surrounding environment, bicycles, motorcycles, and cars are prohibited year-round; only electric buses are allowed to enter. During the autumn foliage season, the dam area is dyed in vibrant autumn colors, attracting countless visitors.

◆ Highlight 2:
Benizakura Park is one of Sapporo’s well-known foliage spots. This privately established garden includes a gin distillery and Genghis Khan BBQ facilities. The brilliant red leaves reflected on the pond, along with Japanese stone lanterns, create scenery as beautiful as a painting.

◆ Highlight 3:
The Hiraoka Tree Art Center, managed by Sapporo City, is located in the suburbs of Sapporo. Covering about 3 hectares, the park features around 3,000 ginkgo trees and 700–800 maple trees, including Nomura maples and weeping maples, with about 8 species and 700 trees in total.
In total, the park is home to approximately 210 species and more than 10,000 trees, resembling a miniature botanical garden. It is one of Sapporo’s famous spots for both cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. The peak visiting periods are during the cherry blossom season in May and the autumn foliage season from mid-October to early November.
