Tour Overview
Departing from Osaka, this one-day bus tour takes you across Awaji Island and Tokushima Prefecture.
The journey begins in the morning, crossing the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, one of the world’s longest suspension bridges. The first stop is the Naruto Whirlpools, a globally renowned natural wonder. You can take a sightseeing boat to observe these magnificent whirlpools up close—one of the “Three Greatest Tidal Currents in the World,” alongside Italy’s Messina Strait and Canada’s Seymour Narrows. The Naruto current is Japan’s fastest, reaching speeds over 20 km/h during high tide.
Next, visit the Awa Odori Kaikan, a cultural hub that showcases Tokushima’s traditional performing arts. Here, you can not only enjoy live Awa Odori performances but also join in to learn the dance steps yourself—an unforgettable hands-on experience.
In the afternoon, return to Awaji Island and relax at the Happy Pancake Café, a stylish seaside café famous for its ultra-soft pancakes made with local Awaji ingredients. Enjoy the sweet treat while admiring stunning sea views—an ideal way to end the day.
This route is optimized for comfort and timing, perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers seeking a full day of natural beauty and cultural discovery.
Attractions Introduction
🌀 Naruto Whirlpools
Located in the Naruto Strait between Tokushima and Awaji Island, the Naruto Whirlpools are among the largest natural whirlpools in the world. You can take a sightseeing boat (Uzushio Kanchosen) from either side to experience the swirling currents up close.
The whirlpools occur due to the difference in water levels and flow speed between the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The whirlpools appear four times a day, with diameters reaching up to 20 meters and currents up to 20 km/h. (Boat ticket not included.)

💃 Awa Odori Kaikan
At the Awa Odori Kaikan, visitors can enjoy live Awa Odori performances throughout the year and even join in the dancing! The facility also houses a small museum about the festival’s history and a souvenir market featuring Tokushima specialties.
The 5th floor connects to the Bizan Ropeway, leading to the summit of Mt. Bizan for a panoramic view of Tokushima City and beyond—on clear days, you can see the Naruto Bridge, Awaji Island, and even the Kii Peninsula.
About Awa Odori:
Originating over 400 years ago, Awa Odori is the largest and most famous traditional dance festival in Shikoku. Held annually from August 12–15, it attracts more than a million visitors. The dance, cheerful and spontaneous, is often referred to as the “Fool’s Dance”—“The dancers are fools, the watchers are fools, so you might as well dance!”

🍰 Happy Pancake Café (Awaji Island)
A trendy café overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, the Happy Pancake Café is known for its bright, natural wood design and panoramic sea-view terrace.
It’s one of Japan’s most Instagram-famous dessert spots, offering signature soufflé-style pancakes made with local Awaji milk and eggs. The must-try menu item is the Classic Pancake with Awaji Honey, best enjoyed on the oceanfront terrace.
