Introduction to the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan)

Yuanmingyuan, located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing, was initially constructed in 1707 during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. As the largest imperial garden of the Qing era, it was renowned as the "Garden of Gardens." Tragically destroyed by Anglo-French forces in 1860, it now stands as a historical park and was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1988.

• Composed of three main gardens: Yuanmingyuan, Changchunyuan, and Qichunyuan, covering 350 hectares
